"When foraging, location is crucial; how I feel, the conditions on the day, my connection to the landscape, often I’ll collect colour when off on long trail runs in the Wiltshire/Somerset countryside. Collecting colour and processing takes a lot of time and patience, it becomes a very meditative practice. All of this ingrained meaning provides a deep connection to the pigments, which in turn has influenced the way I use them.

I also draw inspiration from mid-century abstract painting, design and architecture and I have a particular interest in the Op Art movement of the 1960s. I like the contrast of the natural materials and mechanised lines of geometric imagery. "

The colours chosen for this piece are strongly pigmented, care should still be taken not to hang this piece in direct sunlight, also the use of UV protective glass will help protect the colour's stability.

Print dimensions are 14 x 17cm from paper edge, printed on 300gsm archival paper.

Signed Thomas Martin in pencil along the bottom right edge of the image.
