This is an original, one off, unique screen print/painting made entirely from handmade natural pigments and starch mediums.

The colours are; "Blackest Black" oak gall and iron screen ink, and madder, weld, privet berry from Rode and alder from Bruges watercolour paints/inks.

"When foraging, location is crucial; how I feel, the conditions on the day, my connection to the landscape, often I’ll collect colour when off on long trail runs in the Wiltshire/Somerset countryside. Collecting colour and processing takes a lot of time and patience, it becomes a very meditative practice. All of this ingrained meaning provides a deep connection to the pigments, which in turn has influenced the way I use them.

I also draw inspiration from mid-century abstract painting, design and architecture and I have a particular interest in the Op Art movement of the 1960s. I like the contrast of the natural materials and mechanised lines of geometric imagery. "

The colours chosen for this piece are strongly pigmented, care should still be taken not to hang this piece in direct sunlight, also the use of UV protective glass will help protect the colour's stability.

Print dimensions are 10.5 x 21cm from edge to edge, printed on 300gsm archival paper.

Signed Thomas Martin in pencil along the bottom left edge of the paper.
